The Birthstone Book Tag

The Birthstone Book Tag was created by The Awkward Bookworm. I feel like I haven't done a book tag in a while, so I scoured YouTube for Bookish Tags that interested me ;) I thought this one was pretty adorable!

#1) January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies -
Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

This was a really tough one - I mean how many EVIL characters are there though? Ultimately I had to choose A Darker Shade of Magic because Astrid and Athos Dane are heartless, magic-wielding assholes

#2) February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty -
Name a book with regal qualities ... You can base this off of characters or choose the King of all books

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

Well, I 100% think this series has a lot to do with royalty. Prince Maxon in The Selection, Princess Eadlyn in The Heir... you know how this series goes!

#3) March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out -
Name a 'wishy washy' character, a character who is not strong or a follower

The Cage by Megan Shepherd

So basically everyone stuck in this little bio-dome except for Cora falls into this category. They aren't really followers because they don't care what Cora does, yet they aren't strong because they believe the aliens and just take whatever handouts they are giving them.

#4) April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough -
Name a book that you loved but is not well known

The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings, #1) by J.R. Ward

I LOVED this book! I even heard it is getting picked up as a TV show. However, I haven't heard much buzz about it around the blogging community. C'mon guys - it was amazing!

#5) May (EMERALD): Said to balance energies -
Name two characters who balance each other well

The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

Barrons and Mac. Need I say more?? Their chemistry is a little questionable in the first book but after that it's pretty fiery!

#6) June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty -
Name a character who is loyal to the end

We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson

I don't think I've ever read about a more loyal character than Diego Vega from We Are the Ants. He can't help but be loyal to everyone he loves and it just breaks my heart!

#7) July (RUBY): Blood red -
Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry

99 Days by Katie Cotugno

This book made me so, SO angry. The main character was infuriating. Not only her, but the brothers she was in a love triangle with as well. It's books like this that give love triangles a bad name ...

#8) August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) -
Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character

First by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

Faye was exponentially more interesting than Mercedes in this book! Mercedes basically felt sorry for herself during the majority of the story and self-deprecating just isn't a trait I think as "girl power".

#9) September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming -
Name a book that had a calming affect on you

Day Shift (Midnight, Texas, #2) by Charlaine Harris

This book had such a calming affect on me because Charlaine creates these characters and towns that become like a second family to me. She brings in characters from other books she writes so when they appear in the books it's like seeing your family again. And the characters that appeared in this book were some of my favorite characters from past series!

#10) October (OPAL): Iridescent -
Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover
or you can base it off of a character

When We Collided by Emery Lord

There are so many beautiful covers of books I could have chosen from for this one but Vivi from When We Collided came to my mind for this right away. Her personality shines right through the pages - she's such a unique girl!

#11) November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience -
Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity

What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler

Kate Weston was able to stand up to a lot of people in this book!! And a lot of people she is close to! If you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend it. It deals with many important issues like sexual assault and date rape.

#12) December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship-
Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Can we really call this gang of misfits a "friendship"? I'm not 100% sure but whatever they are, I know that I want to be a part of it!

Im Tagging: anybody who wants to do this tag!

  1. So happy that Six of Crows was picked for my birthstone lol! But seriously, that is one squad that I would love to be apart of! They were all so supportive of each other :)
