Waiting on Wednesday #88

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Aequus (The Royal Protector Academy #2)
Cassie's Waiting On:

Aequus (The Royal Protector Academy #2) by Randi Cooley Wilson
Publication Date: March 30, 2017

Synopsis:

Serenity is being with the one you love.
Despair is being kept apart.
After the rain comes the war.

What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours? For Serena St. Michael and Tristan Gallagher, this is reality. Tristan has accepted his impending nuptials. He’s returned to his realm and his betrothed. Their unification will create peace. Serena is still struggling with her protector’s choice. With a firm resolve, she will forsake her own future in order to save him. Their love will trigger an ancient war. Can Serena and Tristan rewrite their destinies? Or will the Vergina Sun prophecy be fulfilled, and the lovers fall to fate? Welcome back to the Royal Protector Academy.

Aequus is the second novel in the Royal Protector Academy series. This dangerously exciting and darkly romantic tale will take your breath away. It can be read as a stand-alone trilogy, or after the bestselling Revelation series. Intended for mature readers 18+ due to language, mild violence, and sexual situations.

So it should be no surprise that this book (and author) is one of my WoWs! I honestly can barely contain my excitement for this book and even though I know that my heart is going to be broken and shattered, I just need more Tristan and Serena!!

Jocelyn's Waiting On:

Warcross (Warcross, #1) by Marie Lu
Publication Date: October 3, 2017

Synopsis:

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

I have a confession, as of right now, I have never read a Marie Lu novel. *GASP* I know! I couldn't tell you how long I've been meaning to read the Legend Trilogy and The Young Elites. Besides that, I am so excited to read this book. It kind of reminds me of a book I really love, The Eye of Minds by James Dashner. I'm really intrigued by these sci-fi hacker novels lately, and I am excited to see the jump that Mari Lu makes from dystopia to science fiction!
