Waiting on Wednesday #54

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Jocelyn's Waiting On:

The Thousandth Floor (The Thousandth Floor, #1) by Katharine McGee
Publication Date: August 30th, 2016

Synopsis:

New York City as you’ve never seen it before. A thousand-story tower stretching into the sky. A glittering vision of the future, where anything is possible—if you want it enough.

Welcome to Manhattan, 2118.

A hundred years in the future, New York is a city of innovation and dreams. But people never change: everyone here wants something…and everyone has something to lose.

Leda Cole’s flawless exterior belies a secret addiction—to a drug she never should have tried and a boy she never should have touched.

Eris Dodd-Radson’s beautiful, carefree life falls to pieces when a heartbreaking betrayal tears her family apart.

Rylin Myers’s job on one of the highest floors sweeps her into a world—and a romance—she never imagined…but will her new life cost Rylin her old one?

Watt Bakradi is a tech genius with a secret: he knows everything about everyone. But when he’s hired to spy by an upper-floor girl, he finds himself caught up in a complicated web of lies.

And living above everyone else on the thousandth floor is Avery Fuller, the girl genetically designed to be perfect. The girl who seems to have it all—yet is tormented by the one thing she can never have.

At first I wasn't 100% sure about this one, it seemed like a lot of perspectives and that can be overwhelming if not executed correctly. But I really liked the idea of Bakradi, a tech genius that is hired to spy on the genetically perfect girl who lives on the top floor. I think that seems really unique and I'm interested in seeing what comes of that.

Cassie's Waiting On:

A Beautiful Funeral (Maddox Brothers #5) by Jamie McGuire
Publication Date: August 15, 2016

Synopsis:

A Beautiful Funeral (Beautiful, #3)Losing has never been easy for a Maddox, but death always wins.

Eleven years to the day after eloping in Vegas with Abby, Special Agent Travis Maddox delivers his own brand of vigilante justice to mob boss Benny Carlisi. Vegas's oldest and most violent crime family is now preparing for vengeance, and the entire Maddox family is a target.

The secret Thomas and Travis have kept for a decade will be revealed to the rest of the family, and for the first time the Maddoxes will be at odds. While none of them are strangers to loss, the family has grown, and the risk is higher than ever. With brothers against brothers and wives taking sides, each member will make a choice—let the fear tear them apart, or make them stronger.

This book was just announced, and words can't even begin to describe how excited (and terrified) I am for this book.  I don't want any of my boys to die, and this sounds like it will definitely keep me on the edge of my seat! I'm so happy to be able to have a new story in the Maddox Brothers series, and I can't wait to see the twists Jamie McGuire throws into the story! And isn't that cover just gorgeous?!

  1. Nice! Seeing a lot of The Thousandth Floor! Not sure I've ever seen a book change its cover twice before its release as well! LOL! Hope you both enjoy your picks once you read them!
