The Coffee Book Tag

The Coffee Tag was created by BangadyBangz. I was looking for another tag to do because I had so much fun with the Unpopular Opinion Book Tag. So I figured, why not The Coffee Tag? Because you know - pumpkin spice season and all!

#1) Black: Name a series that's tough to get into but has hardcore fans.

A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin

I thought A Game of Thrones was very hard to get into because of all of the different view points. It was hard to get to know any character in depth. However, I know that not only the TV series has hardcore fans but the book series does as well

#2) Peppermint mocha: Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

I really think this series is popular all year round, but out of all other book series I think I hear an increased buzz about this in the winter as well.

#3) Hot chocolate: What is your favorite children's book?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

My 1st grade teacher read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to my class and I honestly think it was one of the major reasons I started to be so interested in reading. It's perfect for children and I think I would even enjoy it if I read it now.

#4) Double shot of espresso: Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Well, this series is going down in history as one of my favorite book series. I can't believe I was so apprehensive to start it! I was afraid that the world was going to be confusing and boring but NO WAY. It was amazing and the characters were just beautiful and exciting.

#5) Starbucks: Name a book you see everywhere.

I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

When I originally reviewed I'll Give You the Sun, I was very indifferent. It was the first book I ever listened to by audiobook and I wasn't sure what I was to expect. I found myself thinking about the book weeks after I ended the book. So, I bought the hardcover version and read it instead of listening to it. I found it much more beautiful and it is not at all overrated.

#6) That hipster coffee shop: Give a book by an indie author a shootout

Lara Adrian

The Midnight Breed Series author used to be repped by Random House but she recently published her last book independently. I'm not sure if her contract was up and she didn't want to renew it or what happened, but I like the feel of the new book - super silky :)

#7) Oops! I accidentally got decaf: Name a book you were expecting more from.

Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

If you are interested in hearing more about my opinion on this one, I did a whole review on it. Basically, I was just really disappointed in the MC's outlook on life. I thought it was going to be a very uplifting and empowering book - instead I feel it was sulky and bratty.

#8) The perfect blend: Name a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

I know not everyone agrees with me on this one, but I think it had a very suitable ending. I felt like it was beautiful and fitting for the series.

Im Tagging: anybody who wants to do this tag!

  1. I haven't read Allegiant even though I know what happens. Totally got spoiled way early on, but I still bought it. Why? Edge of the seat reading? Totally getting to Shadow and Bone soon! I really want to try Game of Thrones, maybe next year. Fun post!

    1. It definitely was. I heard they might change it for the movie which would definitely make me mad - I don't understand why they'd change it.

  3. Oooh this seems like a fun tag! I'm sad to hear you didn't like Dumplin' though -- it's one of my most anticipated releases this month. I haven't read most of the books you've mentioned, but they seem fitting based on what I've heard.

    1. I feel like I'm now a tag addict, lol. I'm looking for new ones all the time. And yes :( I heard sooo many people loved it but I just didn't like the MC's outlook towards other people and certain experiences. I'm sure you'll love it though! :)

  4. What a great tag! Sometime I definitely need to get to The Grisha and Games of Thrones series! I watch the tv show and really enjoy it, but the book lengths makes it look so daunting O.O also I hope to read Dumplin soon, so I'll be checking out your review now :)
